this is taking a little longer than I thought it might!. had hoped to have stitched at least 2 of the snowmen by now, but other things get in the way, including the lurgy!. my self imposed headline of end of July may have to change to finishing by end of August!.
please excuse the wrinkles – I probably wont iron this until its completed!.
now, onto snowman 2, the SOC2014 3rd week colour (again not working for me and my stash!), the crochet blanket, and May’s PL pages!. so many crafts, so little time…..!
this weeks colours for SOC2014 initially didn’t work for me and I wasn’t going to join in. but I kinda felt I should try so I racked my brains for what needed making and then if I had the required colours!
the colours this week are teal, coral and a touch of white. I didn’t have any wool that matched, nor fabric. I thought about an art journal page but everything is packed away in the garage and I thought a mini war might break out if I tried to bring another box into the house!. In the back of my mind I knew I had to do my May pages for project life, so checked out the cardstock and patterned paper I have, and finally found something suitable!.
so….this is just a filler card as I am going to add in some photos from a trip to Geneva last year. other than the staples and black pen, I have stuck to the colours required!.
I am loving that wood grain paper by Echo Park and wish I had more, but sadly I only have the one sheet!.
thanks for popping by!.
On Monday I popped over to check out the first colour combination for the challenge. aqua blue, sunny yellow and a touch of hot pink = I like!!.
My next thought was, what to do now!. I decided that I would use the challenge to make some samples for a business I’m about to launch. I also decided that the required items needed to come from my stash, so if I didn’t have a colour in yarn, fabric, or scrapbook supplies, I don’t enter that week.
so for this first week, I crocheted a dishcloth!.
Nothing fancy and by no means a perfect example, but it works for me and I’m the one who’ll be using it in the end!.
I crocheted four granny squares in 100% cotton, joined them up and then added a border of double crochet to hold it all together. the raised joins will give added oommph when cleaning!.
do pop over and have a look at all those who have participated in this challenge, there’s over 100 entries when I visited just before!. the link is in my sidebar to the right!.
I have also completed the frames for the snowmen and have begun filling in the first box. in the picture below, a couple of the frames look half finished, but that’s how they are as the rest of the chart fills in the remaining edges. there’s a lot of DMC712 (for the snow!) to use on this project – at least it shows up better on this fabric!.
this morning I discovered what looks like a fun blog challenge based on colour prompts. I thought I might give it a go and see what I can come up with. You can use any artist medium you like as long as you use the colour prompts given each week. the blog owner includes a list of creative catagories people have used in the past, I assume, with links for inspiration. I think I will concentrate on crochet, cross stitch, project life and maybe card making and patchwork squares – maybe some coasters?!.
check it out for yourself if you’re interested = link to twinkle twinkle blog
it kicked off yesterday, with information about how the challenge will run over the next 6 weeks or so. the first challenge goes out next monday, possibly tuesday for us folk down under who are first to see the sun each day!!.
let me know if you’re joining in and I’ll try to keep track of what you’re up to. there will be a link party each week for show and tell I believe!.
