Heading Away :-)

Standard

Off to the sunshine and warmth I go!. In 24 hrs I”ll be halfway across the ditch!.

So I thought I would do a quick post.

I’m taking my snowman cross stitch, so thought I would post where I am now, so I can compare how much gets done while I’m away.

I’ve done a little bit in the past few weeks. My goal is to finish the block I’m on now, do another fully and start a 4th. any more than that will be a bonus.

I had a look at the project I found and featured in my last post – I think I know why it didn’t get finished. I had trouble interpreting the thread guide and did a whole lot of stitching in the wrong colour, and then mucked up one of the trees. I’ve frogged the trees now and rather than do the fancy stitch again, I’m going to do them in cross stitch. then I will frog all the bits that were done in the wrong colour and re do them correctly. all of this wont happen until I come back as I’m not taking it away with me.

I also wanted to record a couple of things from the garden because I wont be returning to this house once I leave tomorrow!.

I’m really pleased with the progress of the corn and squash. the corn will get eaten, as will the carrots that are left. the squash may not be used by us. I will give my parents instructions about the squash – its a fair size now, so it may just ripen before they move out. if not, at least I have a photo showing I can grow a squash! there are some more babies on the vine but I wont be worrying about those.

I’m really thrilled with the rainbow carrots. I had good success with them on my allotment in the UK as well. they will definitely be grown again next year.

We have put in an offer on a new house, a new build with a virgin garden. That means there will be lots of fun planning where things go. I fully intend to have a few vegetable beds and increase what we grow for ourselves.I also hope to add more fruit production as well.

there are exciting times ahead!.

I’ll be away for 2 months and should have the capacity to post. I plan to run the reading challenge party as normal on the 1st sunday of the month, and hopefully I’ll have some interesting things from share while I’m there.

Bye for now!.

As we are preparing to move, my father and I have brought down from the loft all my boxes that have been up there since 2001!.

Man, I have more stuff than I remember!!.

I had to **cough cough** go though a lot of the boxes to check they were packed securely enough for the move to our new home and along the way came across a few things I’d completely forgotten about!.

I do not remember starting this, but I must have since I put my initials and date on it, and it was found in my boxes!!.  I love it regardless of having no memory of it!. Houses are a favourite topic of mine and I adore the colours.

it’s nearly finished – a couple of houses and a tree left, so I’m going to try and get it finished before I head to Australia. I’ll have to stitch a small 2015 on it somewhere to indicate when it was finished.

Isn’t it great to find nice surprises like this!

The link up is at the bottom of this post.

Welcome to March’s reading challenge link up party.

As mentioned in a previous post, I have decided to only host this party monthly, due to commitments that I currently have.

Now, what have I read this past month?!. Well, one book wont get mentioned – a free 40 page book from itunes!. it wouldnt fit any catergory, lol!!.

oh dear, just looking at my records it seems it’s only one book again this time!. I blame house hunting and all that entails!.

This books fits in under the ‘love triangle’ category.

P1120527

I haven’t read anything by this author before. One of the book shops I like to frequent had books by her on special, so I had brought 2 as they were half price. I have to admit, I wasn’t going to buy 2, but when reading the back on this it mentioned ‘love triangle’, I thought ah ha!, I need one of those!.

It took me a few chapters to get into it, but once I was there, I loved it. I wont give the game away, but I ended up really enjoying how the author wrote the love triangle angles, if that makes sense!. I really enjoyed the guts of the story, but found the end was a little flat. It kinda left me thinking it was an afterthought to the main idea for the story. still, it was a good read and I look forward to reading the other book I have of hers.

I’m off to Australia in 2 weeks and should have plenty of reading of time. I don’t plan to take any physical books. I will read what’s on my ipad, what my sister has and borrow her library card and raid the local library.

Here’s my record so far –

I have modified the list to suit my tastes this year, choosing about 30 of the 50 categories. reading 30 books in a year will be a challenge in itself for me as some years I may only read up to 5 books!. subject to how the year goes, next year I may challenge myself to complete the full list!.

Now, over to you …..

Welcome to the 2015 Reading Challenge Party based on the list devised by Popsugar.

Each month we’ll share what we’ve read during the past month based on the categories set on the challenge list. We can use this link up to find more books to add to our reading pile, ask for ideas or suggestions for categories we may not be familiar with and read reviews of the books by participants. We might also gain a few more readers or cyber buddies along the way.

RULES (cos there needs to be a few!)

  • Link directly to your reading challenge post please.
  • Try to include photos of book covers, but if you can’t, at least give both the name and the author of the books you’re reviewing. Also indicate which category the book falls under ( feel free to double up, if you’re not a huge reader)
  • Keep a tally of how many you’ve read vs how many to go e.g. 3/50
  • Take some time to check out the other blogs in the party and comment, you might gain a new cyber buddy!.
  • Remember to link back to this party in your post, and feel free to grab the button over there on the right hand side of the screen. ** I still need to change the wording on the button, now the party is only monthly!.
  • Links that do not follow the rules or appear to be spam will be deleted.

please join in! –
